Skills that stick. Feels like play.
Listening & focus
The #1 skill parents see improve — often within weeks. Teachers notice it too.
Balance & coordination
Movement games and drills that build body awareness and physical confidence.
Confidence
Shy kids stand taller. Every class ends with specific encouragement — they leave proud.
Respect & manners
A bow opens and closes every class. Small rituals of courtesy that stick.
Following instructions
One of the biggest gifts you can give a child starting school: the habit of listening and doing.
Joy of movement
A love of being active, physical and energetic — in a structured, safe setting.
Structured. Warm. Designed for short attention spans.
Opening bow & warm-up
A predictable ritual that helps little ones transition into class mode. Active, fun warm-up gets energy moving in the right direction.
Listening games & drills
Short activities — never more than a few minutes each — that build following-instructions as a muscle. This is the foundation of everything.
Basic techniques
Same belts, same respect, same Master — just paced and taught for little legs and short attention spans (ages 4–5). Every technique is age-adapted so students build confidence from the very first class.
Encouragement & close
Every child hears something specific they did well. They leave with a win. That's what brings them back next week.
Shy, wiggly, or unsure? That's exactly who we expect.
"My child won't listen in groups"
That's why they're here. We've taught hundreds of children who struggled with group listening. It's the skill the class builds — not a prerequisite for joining.
"My child is really shy"
Shy kids are some of our best students eventually. Master Nam knows exactly how to warm them up — gently, patiently, without pressure. Give it three classes.
"My child has too much energy"
Perfect. We channel it — into kicks, games and movement that has a purpose. High-energy children often thrive fastest in the structure of martial arts.
"What if they don't like it?"
The free intro class exists exactly for this. Come and see. Most children who try U-Star want to come back before the class is even over.
Master Deokho Nam
"The very first class is the most important one. A four-year-old who feels safe, seen and celebrated in that first session will want to come back. That's the whole job in U-Star — make them feel brave, and make them want more."

Quick answers.
What age can my child start?
U-Star is designed for ages 4 and 5. From age 6, children move into U-Kids — our core program for kids.
Do they need any coordination or experience?
None at all. We start from zero — and most four-year-olds have about the same starting point anyway.
Can I watch the class?
Yes. There's a viewing area for parents. We'll guide you on whether staying or stepping out works better for your individual child.
How soon before I see a difference?
Most parents notice changes in listening and self-control within 3–4 weeks. Confidence takes a little longer — but it comes.
Heard from our families.
"My son seemed to always struggle with his confidence and social skills since he was young. I found Unity Taekwondo and was introduced to Master Nam- since meeting him he has been nothing but incredibly supportive, encouraging and truly intuitive in gaining my son's confidence and teaching him this new skill. We couldn't have asked for a better mentor and teacher for our son and we are so grateful we have found him. Thank you Master Nam for being such a wonderful teacher as our son looks forward to your class more than any other activity!"
